Robert (Bob) Alfred Neff\nRobert (Bob) Alfred Neff, 79, of Camp Springs, MD died August 5, 2011 in Severna Park, MD after a battle with liver cancer.\nBob was born in Xenia, Ohio on October 14, 1931. He graduated from Beavercreek High School in 1949 and graduated from The Ohio State University in 1954 with a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering. Then he entered the U.S. Air Force and attended Penn State University where he earned a B.S. in Meteorology. In 1962, he earned a Masters Degree in Meteorology Science (Research) from St. Louis University.\nDuring his 20 year Air Force career he served at Sculthorpe, Hillington and High Wycombe England; Bunker Hill AFB (Grissom) Indiana; Kinchloe AFB, MI; Torrejon AB, Spain; Environmental Technical Applications Center (ETAC)-Washington Navy Yard; and Yongson, Korea. He retired as a Lt. Colonel in June 1974. After retirement from the Air Force, he continued to work in Meteorological research for General Electric and later for Science Systems Associated, Inc. (SSAI) at Goddard Space Flight Center (NASA) in Greenbelt, MD. He retired in December 2005.\nIn 1954 Robert married Sally Ann Hunter. Sally died due to complications from child birth in February 1958. In July 1959, Robert married Helen Cruickshanks.\nBob was always a gentle, caring, kind, loving man. He had a special relationship with God. Throughout his life, Robert enjoyed singing in various community and church choirs. These consisted of the Protestant Chapel Choir Andrews AFB, Southern Maryland Choral Society, as well as Barbershop Choruses the Marylandaires and the Bowie Knights of Harmony. He was actively performing with the Bowie Senior Chorale, Harmony Heritage Singers and the Sanctuary Choir of Grace Baptist Church until November 2010.\nLt. Col. Neff is survived by his wife of 52 years Helen (Cruickshanks) Neff. Daughter and son-in-law Judy and Steve Nabinger/Bowie, Maryland, daughter and son-in-law Patsy and Don Lee/Federal Way, WA, son and daughter-in-law W. Alan and Nancy Neff of Golden Beach, MD and daughter Lesley Johnson of Jacksonville, NC; two brothers Donald (Jean) Neff and Walter (Carol) Neff both of Columbus, Ohio. He has five grandsons Matthew, Jonathan and Benjamin Nabinger/Bowie, MD; Billy Guynn/Federal Way, WA and Ryan Johnson/Cobb Island, MD; two granddaughters Christina Johnson/Ft. Stewart, GA and Jessica Guynn/Federal Way, WA and on great granddaughter Autumn Compton/Cobb Island, MD. He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Ruth Neff.\nIn lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to Grace Baptist Church, 7210 Race Track Rd. Bowie, MD 20715.
