Robert Melvin Sweeney

The beloved husband of Elsie L. Sweeney died at Southern Maryland Hospital Center. He was the father of Brian Sweeney and Daren Sweeney, grandfather of Kayla Sweeney and brother of Linda Linko. He was predeceased by his parents, Melvin and Marie Sweeney. Robert was raised on a tobacco farm in Baden, MD. He attended Baden elementary school and Gwynn Park Junior/Senior High School. He began a career in banking as a courier at Riggs National Bank in Washington D.C. From there he was a teller, branch manager and finally Vice President at Citizen's Bank of Maryland. After his retirement from Citizen's he spent another 10 years at Old Line Bank in Waldorf. In 1956 he married his high school sweetheart Elsie Beaton.
