Robert Lee "Bob" Wilson, Jr. was born on June 27, 1935, to Robert and Edith in Washington, DC and passed away peacefully on March 23, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of family, dedication, service, and cherished memories.
Bob grew up in Brentwood, MD with his siblings Edward, Ann, and Paul (1945-2024). He later served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958, specializing in electronics and radar systems, with several deployments most notably Thule, Greenland. His professional career spanned decades in electrical engineering, working in many interesting roles, including NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, and then at the University of Maryland, where he spent over two decades helping students apply advanced electronics to their chemical, electrical, and nuclear projects and experiments.
Bob married Rosalie Ann "Rose" Dutkewycz (1940-1991) in 1961, and together they raised six children: Ann (Bob), Robert III (Sharon), Daniel Edward (1968-2021), Frank (Soo), Kent (Betty), and Greg. He also had great pride in his 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A longtime resident of Morningside, Maryland, Bob later retired to Hancock, Maryland, where he enjoyed family gatherings, woodworking, gardening, and restoring old hit-and- miss farm engines. He also loved going to estate sales, collecting nostalgic treasures from the old days, and reminiscing about the history behind each find. Robert Lee "Bob" Wilson, Jr. lived a life of dedication, integrity, and love – a legacy that will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
