Ronald Louis Martin, 76, of Homosassa, FL, formerly of Clinton, MD passed away on January 12, 2021 in Inverness, FL. Born on March 6, 1944 in Washington, D.C. he was son of the late Roscoe Louis Martin and Dortha E. Kauffman Martin. Ronald served in the United States Marine Corps. He was also a retired Prince Georges County Firefighter serving at various stations in the County and was an Arson/Bomb Investigator at the time of his retirement in 1986. After relocating to the west coast of Florida, he continued his fire, arson, bombs and explosion investigations with SEA and Bruce Kerns Investigations. In addition, Ron served on the Federal Governments National Disaster Medical System under the Department of Health and Human Services. He responded as the Emergency Operations Specialist to the terrorist attack on New York City, September 11, 2001. In 2005, he served as Management Support Team Commander, with the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana. Ronnie was a Charter Boat Captain at the Rod and Reel in Chesapeake Beach, MD and at Happy Harbor in Deale, MD. Ronnie enjoyed playing golf, fishing, umpiring high school baseball and especially loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his sister, Barbara LoJacono; brother, Bill Martin (Jane); wife Dorothy (Paxton) Martin; son Gary Martin and two daughters; Cynthia Howard (Bill) and Barbara Bailey (Brad); eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736 on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM where a Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 AM in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, MD 20623.
