On August 6, 1946, Rosemary Kathleen (Butler) Brooks was born to the late Michael J. Butler and Hester T. Butler. She was the baby girl of five sisters and five brothers. Rosemary Kathleen (Butler) Brooks, 74, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 8, 2021 with her loving family at her side at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital. She went by the nickname "Aunt Leany" that was given to her by her family. She graduated from Frederick Douglas High School in 1962, while there Rosemary Kathleen met and married her high school sweetheart Melvin A. Brooks, SR on July 21, 1965 and they had two children. Rosemary worked for Regency Nursing and Rehabilitation Treatment Center in Forestville, MD. She changed her career in 1997 and she began working for the Automotive Unit of the Federal Bureau of Investigations upon her retirement in 2014 to care for her husband. She also worked at Wal-Mart part time at the Bowie and Clinton stores until she retired in January 2013. In July 2019 Rosemary was diagnosed with an Autoimmune Disease called Myositis which is a chronic lung disease. She and her loving daughter spent quite a period going back and forth to John Hopkins for treatment. We thank the John Hopkins staff for the efforts in trying to determine the best course of treatment for my mother. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of 55 years Melvin A. Brooks, Sr., her daughter Michelle and her son Melvin Jr., her grandchild Brandon W. Brooks and goddaughter Velvet Blue. She is also survived two loving sisters Amelia Richardson and Sara Minerva Butler and three brothers Paul, Danny Boy and Vincent. She was met at the heavenly gates by her late brothers Gene and Stevie and her late sisters Marion and Phyllis. A host of sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a host of friends. If I have forgotten any one please don't be offended. A special message from her daughter: I'm so proud of you, you fought a good fight, rest easy Momma. I will miss you and I will love you forever !
