Ruby Jean Wimbush Lee, daughter of the late George and Nannie McLaughlin Wimbush, was born in Pittsylvania County, (Keeling) Virginia, on August 26, 1942. She was the 9th of 11 children. Ruby transitioned on Friday, March 5, 2021 at her home in Clinton, MD. The story of her life was family. While attending Mary Bethune HS, Willie (Louis) drove the school bus that Ruby rode to school every day on. They fell in love and she married Louis on March 24, 1962 and enjoyed a fun and loving relationship for over 58 years. From this union, they were blessed with four wonderful children, Elissa Jean, Derrick Louis, Deborah Rochelle and Christine Joy, six wonderful grandchildren, and one supportive son-in-law. Ruby worked in various places. She worked as an Apartment Manager for the Aspen Hall CT Apartments on Georgia Avenue in DC. With the United States Postal Service in the Bulk Mail Department. And the company she ultimately retired from after 25 years, Sears-Roebuck and Co., where she was recognized as one of their Top Commission Sales Associates. Mom worked at the Sears on Alabama Ave in Washington, DC and moved to the Sears in Landover, MD. After a few years in her first retirement phase, she returned to Sears on a part-time basis at the Clinton, MD store. After that, she was done with full-time work. But then came other ventures, including food catering, becoming a professional clown, and a Boy Scouts of America Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader. Left to cherish her loving memories are her wonderful husband, Willie Louis; four children, daughter Elissa; son Derrick, daughters Deborah (LeRoy, Jr.) Parham and Christine; one sister, Arnell Towler of Danville; one brother, Earl “Tommy” (Nyoming) Wimbush.
