RuthAnn King

RuthAnn “Cookie” King was a caring wife, mother, Nana, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly on October 12, 2022, at the age of 77. She was born to Augustus E. Wilson and Erma E. Graves on March 2nd, 1945 in Washington D. C. RuthAnn married Kenneth “Kenny” C. King on October 15, 1961. The two were lifelong companions of almost 61 years.

She is survived by her husband and her five children: Tina (Russell) Persetic, Lori (Danny) Paschal, Robert King, Kenneth C. “KC” (Virginia) King Jr., and Jeffrey King. She is further survived by her eight grandchildren, whom she loved being Nana to more than anything. Rusty, Vicki, BJ, Becca, Tiffany, Ryan, Ashley, and Daniel. She is also survived by her sister Patricia Shaffer, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her four siblings Fin, Janet, Helen, and Sue.

Cookie worked as a school bus driver for children with disabilities for over 10 years. She then moved on to operating her own daycare, in which she gained many more lifelong friends. She was an avid game player, enjoying rummy and board games with her family and virtual facebook games. She will be especially remembered for her kindness, patience, and love for her family. Viewing services will be held at Lee’s Funeral Home in Owings, Maryland on October 20, 2022 at 10 a.m. Funeral services will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery following the viewing. Pallbearers will be Rusty Persetic, Eddie Baxter, Kyle Bowen, Michael Bast, Brandon Obijiski, Billy Shifflett. Honorary pallbearer is Scot Tippett .
