On Wednesday, November 6, 2019, our beloved Sandy Sullivan received her wings. Sandy was born Sandy Joy Drakeford on December 28, 1946 to Junior and Hattie Drakeford. She was born in Lancaster, SC. In her youth she joined Sand Hill Baptist Church. She graduated in 1965 from Hillside High School where she served as Majorette for the band and was voted Best Looking and Most Witty. She then attended nursing school briefly and then Prince George's Community College. Sandy married Bennie Sullivan and went on to raise their two children, Kim and Tangie, in Washington, DC. She worked for the drug addiction clinic at Prince George's County Health Department for 30 years before retiring. Sandy loved to sew and decorate. She kept her home as beautiful as it was filled with love. She loved her family and cherished her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching Lifetime and HGTV; an interest she passed down her family line. She also loved collecting jewelry and thrifting. Her style was as fun and colorful as her personality. Sandy is survived by her husband, Bennie Sullivan; her brothers and their wives, John Drakeford, Sam and Jackie Drakeford, Frank and Eleanor Drakeford; her sister and her husband. Patsy and Homer Drakeford- Drye; her two children Kim, his wife Darlene, and Tangie Sullivan; her four grandchildren, Darniesha, Malik, Chase, and Tarik; her great-grandchild Penelope; and a host of relatives and friends. Sandy is predeceased in death by her parents, Junior and Hattie Drakeford and her brother Ronnie Drakeford.
