Sara Ann Somosky, 77, of Prince Frederick, MD passed away on March 9, 2020 at her home. She was born on September 6, 1942 in New Martinsville, West Virginia to the late Pansy Oliver and Howard Wyke. She spent most of her childhood in Pennsylvania, and then graduated from Derry Area Joint High School in 1960. She came to the Washington, DC area in 1962, where she started her working career at the Library of Congress in the Photoduplications Services Division. She then transitioned to the Preservation Reformatting Division as a Librarian Preservation Reformatting Specialist, where she retired July 1999. Sara was an active and a truly devoted member of the Calvert Pines Senior Council. She was also the assistant manager of the Senior Center Gift Shop. She loved serving the seniors on a daily basis with love and kindness. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. A mother, grandmother, friend and amazing woman has gone on to enjoy her heavenly home. Her family will miss her immensely. Memories of her inherent joy will last a lifetime for her family and friends. Her smile, laughter and joy were truly one of a kind. Sara definitely had a heart of pure gold. Sara met Vincent Somosky Sr before she started her career in DC and they were married for 25 years, before he passed away in 2000. They welcomed two children into this union. Her daughter, Deborah Evans (Steve) and son Vincent Somosky Jr (Mary). She is survived by her sister Patricia Martin, brother Conrad (Betty) Wyke and brother Howard (Carol) Wyke. She also had five grandchildren, Kimberly Savoy (Matthew), Amy Frederick (Jesse), Michael Somosky (Megan), Stephen Somosky (Felicia) and Sean Somosky, four great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, extended family and many dear friends. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at a later date.
