Sarah McSweeney Gray

Sarah McSwenney Gray (Age 19)Sarah Gray, age 19 of Huntingtown, Maryland and a sophomore at Hood College, Frederick, Maryland died Sunday, September 21, 2003 at the Children's National Medical Center, Washington, D.C. She is the beloved daughter of Robert and Kathleen Gray of Huntingtown, Maryland and the loving sister of Lauren Gray of Huntingtown. She is also survived by her paternal grandmother, Helen Gray of Wyomissing, PA and maternal grandparent's, Earl and Dorothy Nix of Charlottesville, VA, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other family.Sarah lived most of her life in Calvert County and since age 6 was a camper and later a counselor at Camp Friendship, a cancer camp for children. She graduated from Northern High School with class of 2001 and was active with the Lorax Club, SADD, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Key Club. She was also a member of St. Nicholas Lutheran Church, Huntingtown, Maryland and was active in the youth group, Vacation Bible School and the nursery. Sarah was an Early Childhood Education major at Hood College, was president of the Education Club and a member of Intervarsity. She along with her mother were members of the National Cancer Survivors Speaking bureau. Together they would address cancer victims offering hope and peace. Sarah also enjoyed working with and teaching students with disabilities. Her hobbies included making pottery, crafts, and baby-sitting.
