Shanna Marie Chesley

Shanna Chesley returned to her heavenly home on April 15, 2016. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Shanna was born at Prince George's Hospital in Cheverly, MD to the late James Leroy Waters and Marie Waters. Shanna graduated from Douglas High School in 1975. During that time, Shanna met Wayne Chesley. They were later married, a union which lasted 42 years. Shanna worked for Prince George's County Public Schools for 26 years and received many awards. Shanna loved cooking her famous potato salad, decorating, laughing, hand dancing, and living life. Her smile would light up any room. Most of all, she loved her some Wayne, a devoted husband and father who stood by her every step of the way. There's nothing she wouldn't do for her grand boys and her daughter "Pooh," Shawnell. Shanna is survived by her husband, Wayne B. Chelsey; her only child, Shawnell "Pooh" T. Chesley; her mother Marie Waters; four grandsons: DeWayne Chesley, Darryl Martin, DeMonte Martin, and DeMarcus Howard. She is also survived by eight brothers: Andrew L. Mullen, Leroy Esters, Michael Waters, Mark Waters, Paul Waters, James L. Waters, Jr., Dennis Waters, and Terrell Wallace; eight sisters: Annie Carroll, Yvonne Hamilton, Rochelle Waters, Wanda Waters, Cindy Bell, Elaine Waters, Delores Waters, and Tina Wallace;Jay Owens, a steady friend of Shawnell "Pooh"; and a host of nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
