Sharon L. Feldman

Sharon Lee Feldman June 29, 1940 - October 10, 2013 Sharon Lee Feldman, 73, of Fort Washington, MD passed away at Georgetown University Hospital on Thursday October 10, 2013, surrounded by her family. She was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, on June 29, 1940 to Neil and Selma (Palmberg) Nikunen. Educated in the Sault St. Marie, Michigan schools, she graduated from Sault St. Marie High School in 1958. Following graduation she moved to Chicago, Illinois to attend Augustana Lutheran School of Nursing where she graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1962. She is survived by her husband John LeRoy Feldman. Sharon and John met in high school and were married September 15, 1962. Sharon and John enjoyed over 51 years of marriage. To this union were born 2 children; Sharolyn and Mark.With John employed by the United States Air Force, they were transferred to several locations: Edwards, CA; Dayton, OH; Montgomery, AL; Upper Marlboro and Fort Washington, MD. Sharon served as a nurse in the Prince George's County school system including all grade levels, and went on to be a chiropractic assistant, and a massage therapist. Sharon enjoyed serving others in many ways and her massage sessions often lasted hours as she shared her faith and life experiences with her clients. She also got great comfort in volunteering to provide chair massage to patients at senior homes. Physical fitness was an important part of her life. Sharon and John spent summers at their lake cabin on the Minnesota/Canadian border. She was an avid fisherwoman and was thrilled as her grandchildren reeled in fish. Family events gave her the most pleasure by experiencing their love. Sharon was a person of very strong faith and the belief that the resurrected Lord was with her wherever she went. She now rests with Him. Surviving are her husband John, and children: Sharolyn (Karl) Belzer, Pocatello. ID; and Mark (Susan) Feldman, Bristow, VA. Surviving are 4 grandchildren, Ryan Feldman, Payton Belzer, Kate Feldman, and Colby Belzer. Also surviving are her brothers and sister; Rev. Jerome (Phyllis) Nikunen, Cloquet, MN; David (Kathleen) Nikunen, Roseau, MN; Bruce (Marsha) Nikunen, Kalispell, MN; and Kristine (Glen) Kloempken, Roseau, MN. Preceding her in death was Sharon's father in 1994, her mother at the age of 97 in 2011, and twin granddaughters, Aubrey and Alyssa Belzer in 2000.
