Shawn Carl Taaffe, 77, passed peacefully away in the presence of family on May 26, 2024.
Shawn was born on January 5, 1947 to George and Lisa (nee Deepe) in New York, New York. He graduated from Duval High School in 1965 and was soon drafted into the United States Marine Corp fighting in Vietnam. After coming home, he joined the Prince George’s County Police Department where he proudly served from 1968 to 1987. After retiring as a police officer, he served his community in a different way as a corrections officer until his ultimate retirement in 2018.
Shawn enjoyed hunting, watching football and Nascar, hitting the casinos with his sister Mona, history, and true crime. He was a wonderful storyteller with the ability to make light of heavy situations leaving you with a piece of knowledge you didn’t have before.
He is preceded by his father George and his mother Lisa. He is survived by his two sons Collin (wife Jessica), and Ryan (wife Katie), his sisters Sheila Hall, and Mona Williams, and his grandsons Liam, and Whelan.
