Sophie Hamel

Sophie C. Hamel, age 100, passed away on July 5, 2020 at home surrounded by family. She was born on December 11, 1919 in Unsworthville, Maryland to the late Herndon B. Rudasill and Mary Unsworth Rudasill. Among many hobbies, she was an active member of several clubs: Pleasant Journey Hummel Club for 21 years, Nu Sigma, Sigma Phi Ganma International Sorority, Upper Marlboro Chapter No. 61, Order of the Eastern Star for 74 years and a lifelong bowler at the Suitland Duckpin Bowling. Sophie was a devoted wife to her late husband, Allen “Bud”; a loving mother to Claudia (Marvin) and Arthur (Aurelia) (Leslie); a caring grandmother to Philip, Russell (Rachel), Matthew (Christina) and Hailey (Connor); and an adoring great and great-great grandmother to Savannah, Grayson, Sydney, Christian, Autumn, Landon and Sierra.
