Stanley J. Sabers, born in South Dakota, passed away on February 1, 2015. He has been living in Maryland since he left the Navy in 1971. Stan retired from the Government Printing Office in Washington, DC after 32 years. His last few years have been spent at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home in Saint Mary’s county. Stan was an avid sports fan, so it is almost fitting he died on Super Bowl Sunday. He loved all sports and spent many years in bowling leagues and helping coach young children’s baseball. He rooted for his teams as hard as he fought his battle with Parkinson’s disease; unfortunately it was not one he could win. There is another team waiting for him now. He is survived by his son Steven Sabers, mother Catherine Sabers, his sister Cyndy Bastain, and nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his father R.L. Sabers, and sister Nancy.
