Susan J. Power

It is with great sadness that the family of Susan Jacqueline Power announces her passing on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at the age of 69 years. Susan will be forever remembered by her husband and best fishing buddy of 48 years, John “Jack”, their daughter, Lindsey Arora (Arun), and by her brother, John Groch (Donna). Susan was predeceased by her parents John and Thomasina Groch. A native of Trenton, NJ, Susan received her B.A. from Rider University. After living in several states, she and Jack settled down in Holland Point, MD, spending their weekends fishing out of Herrington Harbour South in Rose Haven, MD, and then years later, Sunset Marina, in Ocean City, MD. Upon Jack’s retirement in 2000, every winter they could be found on their boat in Marsh Harbour, Abaco Islands, Bahamas. As members of the Royal Marsh Harbour Yacht Club, Susan was always perfecting a fishing lure or hosting friends for a day of fishing or an evening of fun on their boat, Seafood Searcher. Her love of fishing was matched only by her love of cooking and entertaining. There will be a Memorial Gathering on Friday, April 5, 2019 from 5 to 8 pm at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736. A Mass of Christian Burial in memory of Susan will be celebrated on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 11 am, at Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church, 101 Owensville Rd, West River, MD 20778. Susan had requested in lieu of flowers, donations in her name be made to the Ocean City Reef Foundation, P.O. Box 1072, Ocean City, MD 21843.
