Timothy Harold Hanson, “Tim” of Upper Marlboro, MD died on September 1, 2019 at the age of 59 years. Born in Alpena, Michigan to Frances Jean (Corthals) Hanson and Harold Francis Hanson. During his younger years, Tim loved to go to his grandma’s to play with his toys. Tim was raised in Prescott, MI where he attended and graduated from Whittemore-Prescott High School, Class of 1979. Tim met Jody in 1973 and they dated during high school. They married on July 17, 1979 and Tim immediately enlisted in the US Air Force. Jody became a military wife and went with Tim during his active duty at Holloman AFB in New Mexico, Clark AFB in the Philippines and then to Andrews AFB in Clinton, MD. After 20 years of service, Tim retired with an honorable discharge. During his career in the USAF, Tim was an Aircraft Structural Maintenance Craftsman for his entire 20 years. He earned the Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters (OLC’s), an Air Force Training Ribbon, the Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 5 OLC’s and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 5 OLC’s. Tim shared life with Jody, their two children Melissa and Christopher and then their family grew by one more “son” Rocky, one more “daughter” Krista, and two grandsons, William and Tyler. For Tim, family was his foundation for life. Tim loved the Detroit Tigers, the Lions and the Redwings. He enjoyed Science Fiction and was an avid collector of toys, old and new. Tim coached LL Baseball on AFFB and loved the University of Michigan against Ohio State Football Games. Tim was stubborn yet focused and fueled by the need to preserver, on fire with the possibility that something good was about to happen with hard work. He was the Chief Stewart of the IAM Union Local 24. There was nothing he wouldn’t do to help his fellow brothers. Beloved husband of Jody (Duma) Hanson; devoted father of Melissa McDonald (Rocky) of Hollywood, MD and Christopher Hanson (Krista) of St. Augustine, FL; dear brother of Jim Timmreck (Janet) of White Lake, MI; loving “Da” of William and Tyler McDonald. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Tim was predeceased by his parents and three brothers, Robert, Vic and Frank Timmreck. For those desiring, contributions in memory of Tim may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
