Ulysses "Chuck" Jacob Shepherd

March 21, 1961 — November 28, 2022

 

Ulysses "Chuck" Jacob Shepherd Jr, 61 of Clinton Maryland passed away November 28, 2022.  Chuck was born March 21, 1961, in Newport News Virginia to Ulysses Jacob Sr. and DeVera (Walston) Shepherd.


Chuck graduated from Hampton high school, attended Concord College (WV), and received his Bachelor of Science in Finance from Morgan State University. Throughout his schooling, Chuck played football as a cornerback.  After graduating from Morgan State University, Chuck moved to the Washington DC area where he worked in accounting at Fannie Mae and continued his career at Gartner, Inc. 


Chuck was a devoted Raiders fan and his interest included sports, cooking, and traveling in his early adult years. On many occasions, Chuck could be found on his deck, cooking and entertaining, family and friends. No one was a stranger to Chuck. He was welcoming and kind to everyone in his presence. One of his kindest gestures was caring for his mom, DeVera Shepherd.  

He is survived by his mother, DeVera Shepherd, brother, Rodney (Cassandra) Shepherd; sisters, Toni Freeman and  Ruby Smith; aunts, Ernestine "Tina" (Joseph) Raggio, and Bernice, "Bunny" Glenn, niece, Sydney Shepherd, nephews, Michael Hamlin, and Zachary Freeman-Hilton; cousin Loren Raggio; a special friend, Carol Simpson and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ulysses “Shep” Jacob Shepherd, Sr; sister, Stephanie Shepherd Hamlin; and aunt, Ann Walston Stroud. 

 

A memorial service will be held at Six Mount Zion Baptist Temple in Hampton, Virginia on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 11:00 am.
