Vera Ellen Grubbs

Vera died suddenly, Monday, April 21, 2014 after an aggressive fight with ovarian cancer.Vera was born in Johnstown, PA in 1954 to Irene Elizabeth Norris and the late John Joseph Beatrice. She was the third oldest of seven children. The family moved to Brentwood, MD where Vera attended North Western High School.Vera played Basketball for St. James Church in Mt. Rainer and softball for The House of Crabs before injuring her shoulder.Vera and her soul mate, Thomas Grubbs, were together for 30 years. They raised their family in Prince Georges County before moving to Calvert in 1994. Vera worked in Property/Residential Management in Prince Georges County before moving to Washington, DC.Vera was a great mother, loving wife, trustworthy sister, caring daughter and generous friend. She was the light of any party and was the glue that held the family together.
