Vernon D. Alexander,97, formally of Temple Hills, Maryland passed away peacefully at his residence on May 31,2020. Vernon was born on February 9, 1923 to the late U.B. and Clara Alexander. Vernon was the beloved husband of Betty Jean Alexander for more than 30 years. At a young age he joined the US Navy. He was a World War II Veteran. After his time spent in the Navy, Vernon went on to complete his education and earned a Master's Degree in Meteorology. He worked for NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) as a Meteorologist. He was a member of the Methodist faith. Vernon enjoyed fishing, gardening, the outdoors, and socializing with friends and family. He is predeceased by his wife Betty, son Woodrow, brothers Herbert, Hillman, Waldo Alexander, and one sister Miriam Broderick. He is survived by his two children: son Ronald Alexander; daughter Connie Griffith; two grandchildren, Tammy Prout, Michael W. Tarantola; two great-grandchildren, Faith Jackson, Michael A. Tarantola; and two great great-grandchildren, Violet and Willow Jackson.
