VINCENT JOSEPH DESTEFANO, "Jim" A WWII veteran, father and grandfather, died at home in Fredericksburg, VA on Friday July 20, 2007 at age 89 with his wife and daughter at his side. He was born in Long Island City, NY on August 26, 1917. He served in the US Army during WWII in Germany and France. He married Lucy Marie Gatto on June 13, 1943.After his service in the Army, he moved his young family to Washington Metro area and began work with the federal government at the Army Map Service as a printer. He also served in other "classified positions" with National Security Agency. After retirement in 1978, he and Lucy moved to Naples, FL and lived there until returning to the Washington area in 2002.Mr. DeStefano was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Archbishop Michael J. Curley Council, 2809, College Park, MD. Survivors include wife, Lucy of 64 years; two children, Anthony (Terri) of Chesapeake Beach, MD and Florence Spellerberg (Tom) of Chantilly, VA; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends at the LEE FUNERAL HOME, Calvert, Owings, MD on Tuesday July 24, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Jesus Divine Word, 885 Cox Rd, Huntingtown, MD Wednesday, July 25, 2007 1 p.m. Interment with Full Military Honors at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.
