Walter Louis Ford Jr. passed, on Thursday, October 22, 2020, at Southern Maryland Hospital in Clinton, Maryland. Walter was born in Florence, Alabama, July 12, 1937. He has a distinguished military career that started in 1955 until retirement in 1977. He was a decorated soldier who rose to the rank of SFC/E7. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign and Vietnam Cross of Gallantry W/Palm. After his military career, Walter continued working at Fort Belvoir, VA in a civilian capacity. He worked in the role of Tele Communication Center Specialist until his retirement. He never wavered in his support to his family and friends. Walter was a devoted member at Mt Ennon Baptist Church in Clinton, Maryland; where he served as Treasurer for many years. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara L. Ford and his parents: Walter L. Ford Sr, and Angeline L. (Crenshaw) Ford. He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving brother, James Ford (Laura) of Nashville, TN; five children: two sons, Anthony Ford and Gregory Ford of Hampton, VA; three step-children: Deborah Eades (Gerald) of Ft. Washington, MD, Barbara Jackson of Laurel, MD and Willie Jackson III of Ft Washington, MD; nine grandchildren: David (Jessica), Kristine (D’mitri), Geralisa, Carla, Kendra, Gerald, William, Robert and Dominique; ten great-grandchildren, niece, nephew, family and friends.
