WELDON LEWIS FOSSETT (78) peacefully and gracefully went to his heavenly home in the arms of Jesus on December 21, 2022.
He was born in Delaplaine, AR on September 25, 1944, on the family farm to Willis Marcy (Mark) Fossett and Bernice Mae (Nations) Fossett. Upon graduation from high school, Weldon moved to Washington, DC, to work in the finger printing department of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Developing a passion for accounting, he went to college and obtained his degree and certification to become a well-respected Certified Public Accountant at Millard T. Charlton & Associates. After more than 40 years and rising through the ranks, he retired as senior partner.
Mr. Fossett was extremely vested in the Oxon Hill Lions Club holding the position of President twice. On May 29, 1999, Weldon married the love of his life, Sharon Phipps-Fossett, at which time they moved to their forever home in Huntingtown (Calvert County). He became involved with the Calvert County Republicans and even ran for the office of Register of Wills against “the sweetest person ever” Margaret Phipps (and voted for her also). He helped with Coffee Hour at Trinity United Methodist and most church dinners. Weldon had a passion for making beer and wine, farming his little backyard garden, making his “special” holiday pecan pies, family dinners, and enjoying his swing while he watched the grass grow. He tolerated Sharon’s passions for quilting and rescuing (collecting) old, sick cats with the help of PAWS. He lived his religion on earth and it was clearly evident for family/staff at the hospital to see that he transitioned to Heaven with the same spiritual values. His parents had taught him the Lord’s rules and we are sure they were both right there to receive him for doing such a wonderful job of obeying.
Weldon was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and made the most of what time and abilities he had to work with to make his day filled with quality, laughter, peace, love, and a little ornery sprinkled in. In September of this year, he moved to a Memory Care facility, Tribute on the Glen in Woodbridge, VA., where he received excellent care and made friends with staff and residents.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to The Children’s Home, INC. 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, AR 72450 He supported this orphanage his entire adult life to honor his mother. There will not be a service at this time but a Memorial Event will be scheduled in late spring.
Weldon is survived by his wife Sharon, daughters Lisa McCormick (Mark), Lori Scott (Brit Evans), Laurie Fossett, son Mark Fossett, Granddaughters Diamond Hodges, Abril Adams (Wayne), Marisa McCormick, grandsons Matthew McCormick, Devon Hammett and great granddaughters that he held close to his heart Ellie Coleto, Amanda Adams and Aaliyah Adams. Brother Wayne Fossett (Marcie) and Sister Marsha McInnis (Dan) plus their children and their families. Family Fur babies Ranger, Jasper, Oreo, Armani, Tater Tot (dragon-no fur), and his special buddy that would sneak him out of the house at wee hours, Quincey.
Although Weldon is gone from our sight, he will not be forgotten in our hearts. He has left a long lasting impression on the many who love him dearly. His joy will forever be a memory that we all will hold close and take with us throughout our lifetime.
