Wilbur R. Walker of Chesapeake Beach, MD, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at the age of 88. He was born in Washington, DC on January 20, 1930. Wilbur was a veteran having served in the U. S. Army from September, 1951 – August, 1953. He was employed at Schindler Elevator and retired in February, 1993 after 37 years of service. Wilbur was a member of American Legion Post #136 in Greenbelt, MD, the Riverdale Elks Lodge #1778 and the Collington Masonic Lodge #230 in Bowie, MD. He was a hard worker and was ready to help where he was needed. You could always count on him for a good joke. The greatest joy came with spending time with his family. Fun was always on the agenda with “Pop”. His sweet demeanor and gentleness will be missed by all who knew him. Wilbur was the beloved husband for 62 years to the late Frances A. Walker, who passed away in 2015. He was the loving father of Robert A. Walker and his wife Pamela, the devoted grandfather of Alex Gwynn and his wife Sarah and Aaron Gwynn. He was also survived by great-granddaughter Addison Gwynn and other family and friends. Family invites friends to Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736 on Wednesday, April 25 from 10 am until start of the Masonic Services at 11:45 am with Funeral Services at 12 pm. Interment will follow at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, MD.
