William "Billy" Howard Mills, Jr.

William H. Mills, Jr., 58, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, unexpectedly passed away July 13, 2023. Billy was born June 25, 1965 to William H. “Bubby” and Linda Mae Mills. He is preceded in death by grandmothers Birdie C. Mills, and Gladys M. Douglas. Billy is survived by his parents; daughter Kayla Brianne Mills; step-sons Sean Tettimer and Dayne Foster; fiancé Lisa Vidi Foster; siblings, Mark Mills (Nicole), Chris Mills (Dawn), Tina Bowen (Brian); nieces & nephews Tyler Mills, Kaitlyn Jones, Ryan Jones, Sierra Mills, Coy Mills, Brittany Payne, Tyler Bowen, and great niece Carsyn Mills. In addition, he is survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Billy grew up in Dunkirk, MD, and graduated from Northern High where he was an accomplished athlete in baseball, basketball, and football. After high school, he continued his love of sports through coaching and mentoring the youth of Calvert County.  He made a huge impact on many lives through his love of athletics.  

Billy began a career with Prince George's County Fire Department in 1987 and where he served for over 20 years, retiring as a Lieutenant.  He was loved and respected by many throughout his career and was often referred to as a “Fireman’s fireman.”

Billy was extremely proud of his daughter, Kayla, whom he absolutely adored. He was so happy finally doing what he loved, playing golf almost every day with the love of his life, Lisa.  Billy often said that “They were living the dream!”  He always lived life to the fullest and formed so many wonderful friendships throughout his life.  

The family will receive friends at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736 on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM & 6:00 - 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at North Beach Volunteer Fire Department 8536 Bayside Road, Chesapeake Beach, MD 20732 on Friday, July 21, 2023 at 2:00 PM. Interment will be private.
