William G. Christian, Jr. "Billy"

William Gibbons Christian, Jr.\n \nSeptember 6, 1946-September 16, 2009\n \n \n \nIn the early evening hours of September 16, 2009, William “Billy” Gibbons Christian, Jr. found eternal rest after fighting a courageous battle against cancer. Billy was born on September 6, 1946 in Washington, D.C., and lived most of his life in Temple Hills, Maryland.\n \n \n \nAs a child, Billy was baptized and confirmed at Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church. He went on to graduate from Oxon Hill High School, joined the U.S. Army, was a Vietnam Veteran and ultimately retired as a letter carrier in the U.S Postal Service after 26 years of faithful service. In his retirement, Billy enjoyed a longstanding membership with the American Legion Post 248 in Oxon Hill.\n \n \n \nBilly is survived by his wife Constance, his three loving sons, step-daughter and granddaughter: William G. Christian, III (Chris), k-9 Officer, Charles County Sheriff’s Office; Charles E. Christian, CW2 U.S. Army pilot, and Chad T. Christian of Grace Brethren Christian School; Anne M. Carpe, Prince Georges County Nursing Program and 5 year old Racheal Epps; additionally, by first wife and close friend, Netha A. Diamond, of Bryan’s Road. He will also be remembered by his many close friends and family.\n \n \n \nBilly is preceded in death by his parents Virginia May Christian (Griffin) and William G. Christian, Sr.\n \n \n \nViewings will be held at Lee Funeral Home in Clinton, Maryland on Sunday, September 20, 2009 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM.
