William C. Frederick, Jr

William Chappell "Bill" Frederick January 12, 2010William Chappell “Bill” Frederick of Owings and formerly of Elon, NC, died January 11, 2010, at Anne Arundel Medical Center, Annapolis, MD, after a short illness. He was born July 21, 1929, in Clifton Forge, VA, to the late Margie Failes Frederick, and the late William C. Frederick, Sr. After graduating from Clifton Forge High School, he was drafted into the Army, where he served his country during the Korean War. He used his GI Bill to attend Elon College, where he received his Bachelors Degree. While attending Elon, he met Nancy Haynes, whom he married on April 24, 1960, in Burlington, NC. May 1, 1965, Bill was hired for civil service with the Air Force Audit Agency. In addition to his work, he attended school and received his Masters in Public Administration from Golden Gate University on July 16, 1977. He retired in 1992, and moved from Upper Marlboro, MD to Elon, NC. There, he worked in the Accounting Department at Elon University, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Burlington, North Carolina. He is preceded in death by his parents; also, his loving wife, Nancy on July 18, 2003. He is survived by his only son Michael Frederick, and his wife Maureen, of Owings, MD; three grandchildren, William “Alex” Frederick, Ryan and Julia Croft. Friends will be received from 2 to 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 16, with service immediately following at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home, 306 Glenwood Avenue, Burlington, NC, 27215. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.
