William P Hall, III age 62 was born in Washington DC to the late William P Hall, Jr and
Bernice Harvin-Hall. He passed away unexpectedly on the evening of Saturday October
8, 2022. His greatest joys in life were spending time with his best friend and wife Dawn,
working out at the gym, swimming, jogging, bike riding, and bragging on his boys and
their accomplishments. William loved listening to jazz music. He could sit listening to
Myles Davis for hours.
William attended Washington, DC public schools where he graduated from Anacostia
High School with honors. He then enlisted in the military immediately after high school
where he served as a Marine from October 1979 – October 1982. He was Honorably
discharged as a Private 1 st Class. After serving his country for 4 years, William joined the
ranks at the DC Government Printing Office (GPO). William worked for the GPO for a
few years before being recruited at the District of Columbia Fire Department (DCFD) in
March 1987. Where he retired as Lieutenant in December 2014. William was given the
nickname Killa by his colleagues. The tale is he was killing the gear shifts on the trucks.
The name just stuck until his passing. Most of Williams colleagues only know him by
that name…Killa.
William met his soon to be wife, Dawn when she was working at Fairfax Village Condo
Association and he and his team were there to inspect the fire extinguishers. He found
his sweet roll! From that union, came three handsome boys, William IV, Marcus, and
Marcellus. William and Dawn have been together 36 years.
William is preceeded by his Parents William P. Hall Jr and Bernice Harvin Hall. He leaves
to cherish his memories his wife Dawn Webster-Hall, sons William P Hall, IV, Marcus A
Hall, and Marcellus A Hall, sister Stephanie M Johnson (Fred), Neice Taylor Johnson,
Nephew Myles Johnson, Mother-In-Law Gloria L Webster, 2 brothers-in-law, 2 sisters-in-
law, and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
