William Victor Horvath, Jr.

Suddenly on August 18, 2020, William “Bill” Victor Horvath, Jr., passed away at his home in Chesapeake Beach, MD. Beloved husband of Dee Horvath, his wife of 39 years, Bill is also survived by son Jason Horvath and his wife Kara and daughter Leah Rothbaum and her husband Allen. He was the loving grandfather of Jacob, William (“Liam”) and Connor Horvath and David and Joseph Rothbaum. He is also survived by one sister and numerous extended family in Maryland, Virginia and Kansas. The son of the late William Horvath, Sr. and Harriet Rae Horvath (nee Johnson), Bill was born in Fort Riley, KS, but as the son of an Army officer, lived in many cities throughout the U.S. and in Germany. He received a degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland and worked for many years as an Energy Information Specialist at the Department of Energy, retiring in 2009. Bill respected and enjoyed nature and the outdoors and over the course of his life was an avid fisherman, surfer and skateboarder. He had many hobbies and interests, including photography and classic rock music -- and was quick and delighted to acquire new ones to coincide with the varied interests of his grandsons. Above all, Bill loved and appreciated his family and longtime close friends. He was a man of few words, but a great deal of knowledge. His steady presence and quiet strength will be missed by all. The family will receive friends at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Ownings, MD 20736 on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM where a Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM in the Funeral Home Chapel. NEW GUIDELINES FOR ATTENDING VISITATION / SERVICES. - 50 to 75 people max at any given time in Funeral Home. - Limit visitation to 15 minutes in visitation room to allow for others to express their condolences. - Funeral Services in Chapel limited to 70 people with four (4) people per pew. - Masks and six foot social distancing still applies.
