Paxton\nWilliam D. Paxton, Jr.\n“Sonny” \nOf Dunkirk, MD. Passed away on April 9, 2012 at the age of 79. William was born December 15, 1932 in Washington D.C to William, Sr. and Gladys Paxton. He is the beloved husband of 48 years of Sandra Paxton. Loving father of Eddie (Sherry) McCrory, Belinda (Kip) Richason, David L. Paxton, Rodney Daniel (Kimmie) Paxton, Michele (Ted) McWhinney, Vickie (Joe) Jackson, and Shari (Tony) Demino. Devoted grandfather of Lee, Kelly, Cayance, Jason, Jessica, Jeffrey, Karen, Roman, Jacob, Shelby, Amber, Sarah, Nicos, AJ and Cassa. Great grandfather of 5. Also survived by a host of family and friends. William was preceded in death by his parents, William and Gladys and his granddaughter Megan. Mr. Paxton was a long time dedicated member of Forest Memorial United Methodist Church where he served on the board of trustees. William graduated from the Augusta Military Academy in 1950. He then continued his education at the University of Maryland until he was called to serve in the United States Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After his 14 year career in the Air Force he worked for Bell Telephone Company until he was employed as a Communications Analyst for NASA. Alongside his 24 year career at NASA he worked for JC Penney in Forestville, MD. After retirement he then went to work for Bendix as a communications analyst for 10years. William was a member of American Legion Post # 206. His hobbies included bird watching and working on his computer. He was an avid animal lover but his greatest passion was attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Friends will be received at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, P.A., 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD on Sunday, April 15, 2012 from 4-8 PM and also on Monday, April 16, 2012 from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am. Interment with military honors will follow in Maryland Veterans’ Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD.
