William Wesley "Wes" Venis

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished friend, William Wesley "Wes" Venis, 45, of Calvert County, MD, who passed peacefully on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

Born on February 8, 1979, in Calvert County, MD, Wes was the beloved son of Billy Venis and the late Patty Venis. His family was his greatest treasure, and we will forever carry him in our hearts. "I love you" resonates deeply as a testament to the love he freely gave.

Wes was a man of positivity and laughter, known for his caring heart that made everyone feel welcome and at ease. He had an extraordinary ability to see the light in any situation and always looked out for his family and friends. Wes enjoyed bringing people together, creating moments of joy and connection that will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. A true diehard fan of the Washington Redskins, he never gave up on his team, showcasing his unwavering loyalty and passion.

Born and raised in Calvert County, Wes was a proud, loyal Local #10 Elevator Union member and dedicated his career to Warfield & Sanford, Inc., in Laurel, MD. He was a man who could never sit still. He loved golf, bowling, cornhole, and horseshoes, where many would attest to his impressive skills. He cherished spending time with his family, often gathered around a bonfire, sharing stories and laughter. His sense of humor made him the life of any party, and he was liked by everyone, leaving behind a multitude of friends who will deeply miss him.

Along with his father, Wes is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Dawn Leigh Venis, and their daughter, Kayleigh Alyce Venis, whom he adored. He is also survived by his sister, LaDonna Wood, and her husband, Chris; his In-Laws, Donnie, and Carey Lamond; and Maureen Turner, with whom he shared a close bond; as well as his beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In this time of sorrow, let us remember Wes for the joy, laughter, and love he brought into our lives. He will forever be missed but never forgotten, living on in our hearts and memories.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the Calvert Elks Lodge #2620, 1015 Dares Beach Road, Prince Frederick, MD. Friends and family are invited to come together to honor Wes's remarkable life and the love he shared with all.
