“Remembering Our Willie”Willie Lee Void, 72, of Clinton, MD was called home to be with the Lord on February 21, 2015.Born on October 27, 1942 in Holly Hill, SC, he was the son of the late Eva Goodwin Void and Stacey Void.Willie attended Roberts High School in Holly Hill, SC. At an early age he relocated with his family to Washington, DC. It was there that he began his truck driving career. Willie spent 29 years of his career at Giant Food. During these 29 years, he acquired numerous awards and trophies, including the Presidential Award and continuous years of safe driving awards. He retired from Giant in 2001, but being the hard worker that he was, he continued his love of driving trucks at BK Miller Co., Inc. until 2009. Upon his second retirement, Willie enjoyed taking short trips to Virginia Beach, reading the newspaper, collecting hats (baseball caps especially), and driving his favorite GMC Envoy truck J. He also loved to watch old Westerns, WWE Wrestling, and football. Most importantly, Willie enjoyed spending time with his family. Sunday dinners, holidays, and birthdays were extremely important to him and he preferred to spend those times having a big family dinner. He loved and adored his great grandchildren, who from time to time, he would sneak cookies to them without their mother’s knowledge during dinner. Willie is the beloved husband of Thelma (Williams) Void of Clinton, MD; devoted father of Joyce Void of Takoma Park, MD, Calvin Void (Tiny Ann) of Daytona Beach, FL, Cleveland Void (Teresa) of Lexington Park, MD, and La Toya Denise Void Rose (Terrell) of Glen Burnie, MD; loving brother of Johnny Void (the late Sadie Mae) of Santee, SC, the late Clay Void (surviving wife Albertha of Vance, SC), the late Edward Void (surviving wife Geraldine of Upper Marlboro, MD), and the late Adam Void (Surviving wife Mattie Mae of Brooklyn, NY); Brother-in-law of Marcel Bennett (Thomas) of Brooklyn, NY, Oneatha Wright (Paul) of Eutawville, SC and the late Barbara Colter (surviving husband Vern if Santee, SC); Grandaddy of Donna Lee James, Delonta Badie, Brittany Void, Janae Void and Taliah Rose; Great Grandaddy of Gabrielle Miller, Mekhi Badie, Chloe Miller, Markhari Badie, and Aiden Badie. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.His kind and gentle presence will truly be missed by his loved ones.
