Yolande Toussaint Anderson, of Upper Marlboro, MD, died during the evening of November 11, 2019 after a lengthy illness. Born in Berlin, New Hampshire to Maria Gagne Toussaint and Arthur Aime Toussaint on August 28, 1925. One can imagine how wonderful it was being wished “good morning” by the smell of the fresh doughnuts inside the oven. Yolande was born into a family that owned “Toussaint Bakery”. Growing up in Berlin, she was able to take advantage of the panoramic views of the White Mountains. After high school, she attended and graduated from Becker Junior College in Worcester, Massachusetts. Following graduation, she worked as a secretary at General Electric in Schenectady, NY, then with her brother Paul's law practice in her hometown of Berlin. During the 1950’s, Yolande moved to Washington, DC where she worked as a secretary/stenographer at the Veterans Administration. She became a stay-at-home mom when she and Don started a family, raising their 2 children, Sue and Eric. Throughout her life, Yolande maintained her sweet and simple demeanor that won the trusts and hearts of many, especially her husband, Don. Still today, those who knew her were witness to her nurturing love and strong faith. Possessing a true servant’s heart, Yolande faithfully cared for her family and was an active member of Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Upper Marlboro. There she volunteered her time over the years serving as the secretary of the CCD program, was a lector and served as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist. One can say that she was a genuinely good person and led an exemplary Christian life. Yolande became a volunteer and later served as office manager for the Stephanie Roper Committee. In 2002, this group became the Maryland Crime Victims' Resource Center, Inc., and is still active today, assisting crime victims in Maryland. Yolande loved to knit, crochet, play Bridge and Solitaire, and do daily crossword puzzles. Her family recalls that no one could call her when Jeopardy was on. She also loved Frank Sinatra’s music. Beloved wife of the late Don R. Anderson; devoted mother of Sue (Tony) Prada of Shady Side, MD and Eric Anderson, Sr. of Lusby, MD; loving grandma of Eric (Kristy) Anderson of Lusby, MD, Tiffany (Jaeyoon) Lee of Arnold, MD, Amanda Anderson of Annapolis, MD, Cara Prada of Shady Side, MD, and Valerie Kunselman of Homer City, PA; dearest great-grandma of Zackary Anderson, Emily Anderson, Ameria Lee, Addison Anderson and Kade Kunselman. In addition to her parents, Yolande was also pre-deceased by her husband Don; brothers Paul Toussaint and Leo Toussaint; sister Lorraine Toussaint Kelley, and her granddaughter Katherine Prada.
