On Friday, August 1, 2022 Yvette Griffin departed this world surrounded by her family. Yvette was born to the late Thomas Brown and Hilda Chew-Brown, on March 9, 1958, in Huntingtown Maryland.
Yvette received her education in Calvert County Public Schools. After graduating from Northern High School she furthered her education by obtaining an Associates of Arts degree in General Studies from the College of Southern Maryland and pursing a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from Bowie State University.
Yvette began a career in the medical field straight out of high school at Calvert County Nursing Center, then later at Clinton Convalescent Center, MedStar Southern Mo, Anne Arundel Detention Center (for over twenty years), and several other medical facilities.
In 1975, Yvette married the love of her life Earl Griffin Sr. From this union they were blessed with three children.
Yvette, affectionately known as Wyatte, enjoyed shopping, going on trips, going to concerts and spending time with her family and friends. She loved listening to music. She and Earl Sr. had a great time singing and dancing to their favorite song “Best of Me” by Anthony Hamilton. “Sha-La-La” by Al Green and “Makings of you” by Curtis Mayfield were also among some of the songs you would hear Yvette listening and singing along to. Yvette was fun loving, down to earth and very outspoken. If you knew her she never bit her tongue. Among Yvette’s most favorite thing to do was gamble. She was either at “live”, “MGM”, “Dover” or her last resort “Rod-n-Reel”.
Yvette was proceeded in death by her parents, Thomas and Hilda Brown; sisters, Evelyn Botchway and Diane Brown; brothers, Wilson, Edward, Merton (Gladwin), Joseph, Richard, Robert (Deborah) and Donald Brown.
