Historic Funeral: Former President William McKinley

Here at Lee Funeral Homes, we are proud to have participated in the funeral services for former President William McKinley (1843 - 1901).

On September 6, 1901, while he was attending the Pan-American Expedition in Buffalo, NY, President William McKinley was shot by a disillusioned anarchist. McKinley was immediately taken to receive medical care, but on September 14, he died from his wounds. Following his death, his funeral plans were set in place, which included services in Buffalo followed by a funeral train to Washington, D.C., and Canton, OH, where more services were planned.
